HISTORY of 

“JUST A MINUTE” - THE KIWI CLUB HISTORICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Milestones noted in The Kiwi Club Minutes since 1950! 

 1950   First letters written to officially organize a national organization in the New York area.

 1951  Chose name of The Kiwi Club named after the bird that does not fly.  Compiled premier list of 560 prospective members with assistance from AAL/Kiwi Counselor Kay Hansen.
Article appeared in AAL Flagship News highlighting the organization’s formation.

 1952  Prospective list of 1500 was contacted. Annual dues set at fifty cents ($.50!)
Held 1st National Delegates Convention
-    Penthouse #1, Western Hills Hotel in Ft. Worth. 
First airline group of its kind established in the world.
Held 1st Executive Committee Meeting -    Colony House Hotel, Long Island.
9 chapters affiliated, 21 chapters organized.

Introduced 1st Kiwi newsletter.

 1953   Received $1000 gift from AAL CEO C.R. Smith on behalf of the airline to help with expenses and to congratulate group.

 1954   1st National Kiwi Club Convention - Chicago, Hotel Sherman.
Raised annual dues to one dollar ($1.00!)

 1955   Initiated registration of national emblem for the Club in Washington, D.C.
Enlisted ideas from membership to adopt Kiwi Club song.  Idea vetoed.
Proposed national fundraising project, a Kiwi Club cookbook.  Idea vetoed, recommending instead that a cookbook be initiated as a local project.

 1956  2nd National Kiwi Club Convention - Dallas.  Opening luncheon featured style show by Neiman Marcus.
Established Honorary Membership in By-laws.
AAL CEO C.R. Smith, Actress Jane Wyman named as Honorary Members.

 1957  Added gavel to National President’s pin for outgoing and incoming presidents.
Dedicated Kiwi Monument at AAL Learning Center with “Shining of the Wings” Ceremony.

 1958   3rd National Kiwi Club Convention - Los Angeles, Statler Hotel.  All registrants were presented with “zippalopes!”
839 members, 31 nationally affiliated chapters.
 Listed in “Encyclopedia of American Associations.”
Raised annual dues to $1.50.
Resolved that Chapter Presidents should be invited to attend the National Spring Board Meeting held in odd years between conventions.
Received $2500 gift from AAL CEO C.R. Smith as a stipend for air transportation for use by national officers when doing their duties.
AAL Stewardess College opened.

 1959   Chapter Presidents attended the National Spring Board Meeting, which later became the “Spring Workshops” followed by “Spring Seminar.”
Established the AAL Stewardess Uniform Collection Project.
Established Life Membership into the By-laws.

 1960   4th National Kiwi Convention - Washington, D.C., Sheraton Park Hotel.  (Location changed from N.Y.)
881 members, 37 chapters nationally affiliated, 14 chapters state chartered.
  
Completed major By-law revisions.

Over 2,000 former AAL stewardesses contacted to receive gold medallions as a gift from AAL CEO C.R. Smith, with 1,000 having responded.
The AAL Sky Cradle club was introduced, whereby future Kiwi babies would become eligible to become honorary members of AAL.
Introduced temporary employment positions for Kiwis to do hostessing /reception work, which became “profitunities.”
    

 1961   National Spring Board Meeting/Delegates Meeting.
Introduced “delegates” to attend the Spring Board Meeting.
922 members, 41 chapters.
 

AAL Kiwi Assistance Program (KAP) introduced, starting in Chicago, with Kiwis assisting in the Stewardess recruitment process.
Formed Awards Committee to initiate recognition of outstanding Kiwis and chapters, with focus on charitable work and support of The Kiwi Club.

 1962   5th National Kiwi Convention - NY City, Roosevelt Hotel.  “Manhattan Jubilee.”  
1057 members, 45 chapters.
Presented 1st two national Kiwi Club Awards:  ‘Loving Cup’ to Tulsa, silver charms to first 8 who spearheaded The Kiwi Club as a national organization.
Introduced new procedures for the election of national officers, changed from the proposal of one slate of officers by a Nominating Committee, to opening candidacy to any Kiwi who submitted an application and could meet qualifications; nominations from the floor were also accepted prior to election.
Received Christmas gift for all Kiwis from AAL CEO C.R. Smith - gold charm.

 1963    National Spring Board Meeting / Delegates Meeting.  1125 members.  49 chapters.
Became international; chapter affiliated in Germany!
Grey Eagles (retired AAL pilots) initiated formation.
Proposed establishment of a ‘united Kiwi charity.’

 1964    6th National Kiwi Convention - Wagoner, Oklahoma, Western Hills Lodge. 
1313 members. 54 chapters.

KAP recruitment program a success -- 154 sessions with 76 Kiwis having
assisted AAL Dir. of Recruitment Walt Kistler.

Compiled booklet of routine information about the general administration of  the Club to reduce mailings and repetitive information.

Established The Kiwi Fund, in answer to the proposed ‘united Kiwi charity’ to assist Kiwis in need.
Received gift of $10  per chapter for each Kiwi registered at Conventions  to assist with convention expenses, per AAL CEO C.R. Smith
Adopted a new Kiwi Club membership card to include a stewardess cap stating “of the older generation” at the recommendation of C.R. Smith.
Introduced 3 Kiwi Club Awards, per gift from C.R. Smith, and selected by Kiwi Counselor Kay Hansen for presentation at conventions.

 1965  1337 members.  56 chapters.
Voted $.25 be given by each Kiwi annually to The Kiwi Fund out of national dues.

Established the 3 Awards given by C.R. Smith, for presentation at next Convention:  President’s Cup, Memorial Cup, Kay Hansen Cup.

 1966    7th National Kiwi Convention - Boston, Sheraton Plaza.  
1535 members. 60 chapters.
  
Presented the 3 new Kiwi Club Awards.

Introduced Memorial Cup, named after the first AAL Stewardess killed in the line of duty - Perla Gasparini.
 
Voted against “Stewards” being offered AAL employment.

Expanded KAP program to meet projection of 5,000 stewardesses to be on line in 1970.
Introduced plaque in AAL Stewardess College naming Past National Presidents of The Kiwi Club.

 1967  1480 members.  57 chapters.
Introduced Kiwi Briefing Manual for all Kiwis (small scale ‘stewardess type’ manual).
Offered a $4.20 refund to Boston convention attendees since “overcharged.”

 1968  8th National Kiwi Convention - San Francisco, Hilton. 
1695 members, 60 chapters.
Established new membership status in By-laws - MAL Member-At-Large.

Noted AAL had spent $35,000 for Kiwi Club Operations over the past 2 years including a “Transportation Fund.”  Resolution of appreciation offered with $1000 contribution by The Kiwi Club to the C.R. Smith Professorial Chair at Notre Dame, the same amount he gifted to The Kiwi Club to help get it started.  (Largest gift by an airline group!)
Received a gift of champagne in each Kiwi room at convention from C.R. Smith.
  
Noted age 32 retirement age for AAL stewardesses was lifted. 
Noted the ban on marriage by AAL stewardesses was lifted.
Appointed National KAP Chairperson to help AAL with recruitment.
Introduced planning the convention site 4 years out, instead of 2.

 1969   1914 members.  57 chapters, including 329 MALs.
Introduced Kiwi Survey.
Introduced Kiwi Participation Programs.
Received gift of AAL stewardess doll for each Kiwi at Christmas from C.R. Smith.
Dropped the “L” from AAL - to AA.

 1970    9th National Kiwi Convention - Scottsdale, Mt. Shadows.
2175 members.  55 chapters, including 528 MALs.  Topped 2,000 mark!

Raised annual dues to $2.50.

Noted AA CEO C.R. Smith retired; Kiwis honored him with special tribute.
AA Kiwi Speaker Program (KSP) introduced @$40 per year salary, 1 airline pass; Kiwis assisted local AA sales/marketing offices with seminars, suitcase packing demos, promotionals, other duties.
Added National Convention Coordinator position/duties to Kiwi Club Manual. (A national board position that was appointed to help oversee Kiwi conventions.)

Introduced “Chapter Workshops” at convention.

 1971  2206 members.   57 chapters including 453 MALs.
Introduced General Information Packet for Kiwi Chapter Presidents for a fee of $1.50 each; dispensed with Kiwi Manuals for each member.
Noted in AA KAP program:  70% of all stewardess interviews assisted by Kiwis.
Resolved National Board Members to have hotel expenses paid, for meetings, conventions, workshops.  (previously out-of-pocket expenses.)

 1972    10th National Kiwi Convention - Ft. Worth, Sheraton Hotel.  
1807 members.  59 chapters including 380 MALs.
Targeted membership as major issue/focus, as decline noted.
Introduced Kiwi “Fact Sheet.” 
Investigated establishment of a Kiwi retirement facility. (R&R)  
AA continued stipend to Kiwi Club of $2500 per year to assist with Board travel expenses to meetings, conventions; $10 per registered Kiwi at Convention was also received from AA through 1976.

 1973    2096 members. 60 chapters, including 411 MALs.
(“There always seems to be a membership increase after convention year.”)
Introduced the word “Flight Attendant’ into By-laws along with “Stewardess.”

Focus:  “The F/A today is not the stewardess of yesterday.”
Reorganized National Kiwi Club Board, duties.
Joined forces with Grey Eagles and Three Diamonds to research R&R.

 1974    11th National Kiwi Convention - Los Angeles, Beverly Hills Hilton.
1695 members. 61 chapters including 390 MALs.
Initiated “courtesy dues” program.
Introduced “biennial” instead of “annual” dues.
Investigated name change to Kiwi Club International; voted down.

 1975    1840 members including 265 MALs  (chapter number presumed same.)
Noted AA/Kiwi Counselor Kay Hansen retired from AA - Kiwis offered special tribute to her with a custom designed Kiwi pin/pendant.

 1976     12th National Kiwi Convention - Chicago, Hyatt Regency. 
2238 members. 58 chapters including 416 MALs.

Received 5 bids for Convention 1980!
Welcomed new AA/Kiwi Liaison, Louise Knowles.
Introduced Chapter Charitable Activity Report to help determine Awards.
Contributed $1,000 to the Pickett/Carrara Fund in memory of the two JFK F/As who died in the St. Thomas AA crash, and in honor of all F/As -Stewardesses who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

 1977     1911 members. 58 chapters, including 275 MALs.
Discussed “provisional” status in The Kiwi Club for on-line F/As, which was not adopted. 

Adopted USOC as National Endeavor in support of ‘united Kiwi charity.’
Continued to explore possibility of establishing an R&R.
Introduced the Chapter President Communication Kit for presentation to Chapter Presidents at convention, for reference and use during the term.

 1978    13th National Kiwi Convention - Nashville, Opryland Hotel.  
2221 members. 60 chapter, including 377 MALs. 
 
Revised The Kiwi Club Officers’ Manual format.
Considered liability insurance for Kiwi Conventions.  Voted down - expense.
Winning skit from Skit Night, no longer to be performed on Banquet Night.
Adopted By-law amendment to accept current F/As into Kiwi membership.
Changed wording of “on-line” to “current” F/As.

 1979   1987 members. 58 chapters, including 248 MALs.
The “AA Returning Mothers” program enacted.
Held national Jog/Walkathon throughout the U.S. as National Endeavor
fundraiser benefiting USOC with support from AA Contributed $1000 to the AA Flight 191 Memorial Fund for F/As (DC-10 crash.)
Hosted current AA F/A/Instructor at Learning Center/PHX Kiwi as guest
speaker at Workshop, noted as a first.

 1980    14th National Kiwi Convention - Washington, D.C., Shoreham Hotel (Opened Convention with a singing telegram from the hotel!)
2200 members. 64 chapters, including 315 MALs.
Welcomed new AA/Kiwi Liaison/Mary Sullivan.

Established November 1-7 of odd year in each term, as National Endeavor Week, as may be possible.

Proposed “Operation Membership/Leadership by Anticipation” as focus.

Noted some progress on R&R with possible donation of 40 acres in Arkansas.

 1981    1785 members, including 160 MALs.  (chapters presumed to be the same)
Funded Kiwi Monument ‘face lift;’ overseen, completed by the Dallas chapter.
Contributed toward the C.R. Smith Remembrance Trophy in his honor.

 1982      15th National Kiwi Convention - San Diego, Vacation Village Hotel.
30th anniversary of The Kiwi Club.
2098 members. 65 chapters, including 257 MALs.  
Initiated poll among Kiwis re:  R&R retirement place.  Low response.

Awarded AA/Kiwi Liaison Mary Sullivan honorary membership in Mid Cities Chapter in honor of her dedication.
Proposed sale of a national item to raise money for The Kiwi Club.  Voted no.

1983            1975 members. 64 chapters, including 283 MALs.
Provided Kiwi Club Resolution to AA CEO Al Casey.
Introduced new newsletter format.
Awarded former AA/Kiwi Counselor Kay Hansen’s commemorative pin/
pendant gifted back to The Kiwi Club from her, to become the property of The Kiwi Club, and worn by the current National President of The Kiwi Club.
Introduced Kiwi Club laminated brass life membership cards for Life Members.

Celebrated the 50th anniversary of the AA Stewardess.
Expanded National Charitable Awards program for Kiwis and chapters.

  1984     16th National Kiwi Convention - Dallas, Sheraton Hotel.
2109 members. 65 chapters, including 306 MALs.

Established a ‘spearheader fund’ to establish new chapters; packet compiled.
Pursued research of possible alternative recipient for National Endeavor at a member suggestion; no new endeavor was chosen, USOC remains.
Re-introduced program whereby AA F/As at the Learning Center are to be informed of The Kiwi Club.

“The Kiwi Club divested itself of further consideration of an R&R.”

 1985      2050 members. 65 chapters, including 292 MALs.
Established National Uniform Coordinator position, as national leadership position within The Kiwi Club.  (Not a Board position.) 
Updated, re-designed The Kiwi Club brochure for prospective members.
Conducted feasibility survey re: seminar/convention on a cruise ship; determination was “favorable” but cost appeared prohibitive and advance booking difficult, as well as meeting space allocation inadequate.
Placed National Officers’ Manual on word processor.
Compiled Kiwi speaker list for AA F/A graduation ceremonies.
Introduced sale of ads for Kiwi Newsletter “Kiwi Kaleidoscope.”

 1986     17th National Kiwi Convention - Phoenix, Camelback Inn.  “Pow Wow.”
2192 members. 65 chapters, including 401 MALs.

Introduced IBM clone computer to conduct Kiwi Club business; AA provided financial support and expertise in this transition.
Explored possibility of any AA F/A Supervisor becoming a member; vetoed.
Introduced Kiwi “Bed & Breakfast” questionnaire in newsletter; small response.

 1987      2005 members.  63 chapters, including 330 MALs.
Invited former and current AirCal F/As to become members, following  acquisition of AirCal by AA.

AA initiated impending strike measure to utilize Kiwis as F/As if they agreed to serve in this way and to be trained:  Kiwi response - “The Kiwi Club is not, never has been, and cannot be involved with a call for this kind of help from American Airlines.”  (Kiwis are non-partisan.)
Removed AA KAP duties from national officer duties of the Secretary, as the program no longer existed.

Eliminated requests from chapters to host National Board Meetings, requesting bids only for Seminar and Convention.

 1988     18th National Kiwi Convention  2145 members. 65 chapters, including 368 MALs.
Established an AA “Star” file for convention travel by Kiwis at special rates.   
Raised biennial national dues to $25. ($12.50 per year)

Introduced “Road Shows” a Kiwi recruitment program to attract new members from the current AA F/A group.

 1989      2312 members. 65 chapters, including 363 MALs.
AA Kiwi Counselor Kay Hansen passed away.
Initiated a “Save the Kiwi Monument” effort.

Dedicated and restored monument through Kiwi Club funding and matched funding from AA in memory of Kay Hansen.  

Opened a Kiwi Club Exhibit at the Air Space Museum in OKC.

Noted AA Wings Foundation was established in support of AA F/As in need.

 1990      19th National Kiwi Convention - San Francisco, Fairmont Hotel.
2020 members. 59 chapters, including 386 MALs.
Conferred Life Membership on Millie Alford, former Director of the AA Stewardess College/Learning Center who is a Dallas Kiwi.

Noted C.R. Smith passed away.Contributed $1000 to AA C.R. Smith Museum in memoriam.
Retired The Kiwi Club Charitable Award Trophies to OKC Museum; replaced with more durable plaques later.
Distributed Kiwi Club brochures to AA Latin America F/As.
Initiated major AA Stewardess uniform reproduction project.
Introduced Kiwi recruitment program at various AA cities.

 1991    1791 members. 59 chapters, including 335 MALs.    
Introduced a C.R. Smith Museum Coordinator position within The Kiwi Club.

Introduced the new plaques for charitable awards presentation.
Retired the “Blue Goose” trophy for “best skit” on Skit Night at convention.

 1992    20th National Kiwi Convention - Atlanta, Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza (Ravinia.)
1849 members. 59 chapters, including 349 MALs.

 
40th anniversary of The Kiwi Club.
Introduced Gift Membership Program.
Established a Kiwi Club Display Case at the AA Learning Center.
Sent special letter of concern to Kiwis/chapters possibly affected by Hurricane Andrew.

 1993   1767 members. 56 chapters, including 412 MALs.
Introduced special flyer to recruit current AA F/As into membership.
Introduced a Kiwi Club Membership Directory.
Introduced a Kiwi Club Convention Manual.

 1994      21st National Kiwi Convention - Houston, Westin Galleria Hotel.  “Lucky 21.”                  
1842 members. 59 chapters, including 428 MALs.
Focus:  increase membership, streamline Board duties.
First “current AA F/A” elected as Kiwi Club’s National President.
Noted AA strike by F/As; reaffirmed Club policy of neutrality and non-partisanship.
Voted to retain a charitable National Endeavor, but to change it the next term.
Introduced a Kiwi Club Recruitment banner.
Established two new chapters - Central Arkansas, Florida First Coast, the first chapters to be formed in several years.

 1995        1659 members, 60 Chapters, including 347 MALs.
Established 800 phone number for Kiwis.
Determined per poll/Seminar vote that the 1998 Convention would be a cruise!

Completed AA Uniform reproduction collection/patterns.
Established appointed position of Meeting Site Coordinator.

Supported the AA DC-3 Coalition/Hangar Project with purchase of “bricks.”
Introduced this “Just A Minute” brief on the historical highlights from Minutes.
Introduced Kiwi recruitment flyer, reproduced at less expense than brochures.
Noted AA/Kiwi Liaison Mary Sullivan Raymond retired from AA but not as our Kiwi Liaison; honored with “brick” in her name at the museum.

Established SW Florida chapter; reaffiliated San Antonio chapter.

 1996      22nd National Kiwi Convention - Chicago, Fairmont Hotel.
1729 members. 60 chapters, including 371 MALs.
Created a new Kiwi Club brochure for recruitment/prospective members.
Completed computerization of Kiwi Club National Executive Board.
Compiled a Computer Manual.
Revised procedures for the election of National Officers, per members’ recommendations.
Re-visited and reaffirmed Club policy of neutrality during an AA F/A strike.
Established the AA Employees Federal Credit Union as the one banking institution for all Kiwi Club accounts.
Named new National Endeavor per vote at Convention ‘96:  Wings.      

 1997      Changed format of Kiwi Kaleidoscope to tabloid style, larger print.                       
1655 members.  59 chapters, including 385 MALs.
Focus:  commitment, connection, communication, cruise.
Hosted National Seminar at a resort location for the first time - Scottsdale, featuring keynoter new CEO AA Don Carty for record turn-out.
Continued vigorous recruitment efforts, including mailout/invitation to join
the Club to  346 “Early Out” AA F/As, and arrangements for AA to provide flyer to retiring/resigning F/As through Kiwi Liaison efforts.
Formed new chapter - international: Argentina.
Explored feasibility of going on the internet, offering a home page (too expensive at this time).
Welcomed Marie Allen Sullivan, one of the first four Stewardesses back to Life Membership, once found; she joined Agnes Nohava Hincks, class 1933.
Created a Kiwi Club Survey; Chapter Networking spreadsheet.
Introduced Care Calls to Chapter Presidents in support of their efforts.
Held National Endeavor Week to benefit Wings; term reached   $25,000.
Incorporated regional get-togethers with chapters during Board Meeting dates.

 1998      AA CEO Bob Crandall retired.
Richardson Chapter honored AA CEO Don Carty as newest Honorary Member.

23rd National Kiwi Convention  - premier cruise convention aboard The Leeward Cruise Ship/NCL.  

Awarded 5 chapter charitable awards in 2 categories - large and small chapters according to membership recommendation.
                  
Revised budget format.

Designed comprehensive computer manual for The Kiwi Club’s custom data base software.
 
Visited idea of creating mission statement, tag line.  Not pursued.

Noted that The Kiwi Club raised an estimated $95,000 for 61 charities in the term, collectively.

 1999     1575 Members.   56 Chapters, including 341 MALs.
Disbanded three Chapters:  San Fernando/Conejo Valley, Southern Connecticut, and Twin Cities.
Hosted National Endeavor Week, “How Sweet It Is” (bake sale) in joint effort with American Airlines and Wings.
Purchased new computer hardware for National Executive Board for Y2K compliance; upgraded computer database; obtained internet access and e-mail capability.
Hosted National Seminar 1999, Alexandria, VA, 130 attendees.  Keynote speaker was Jane Allen, AA Vice President of Flight Service.
Appointed new National Traveling Uniform Coordinator.
Increased advertising efforts to achieve “2000 by 2000” membership goal.

  2000      1710 Members.  56 Chapters, including 424  MALs.           
Established domain name for The Kiwi Club Web Page (
www.thekiwiclub.org).

Conducted focus groups to evaluate membership in The Kiwi Club.
Raised approximately $50,000 for National Endeavor.
Affiliated two new Chapters:  La Petite Roche and Central Florida.
Disbanded two Chapters: Argentina and Indianapolis.
Established The Kiwi Club credit card.

Bestowed Honorary Membership for Mary C. Raymond, American Airlines Liaison

 2002        25th National Convention was held in Fort Worth, Texas celebrating TKC’s  50th Anniversary,1640 Members. 56 Chapters, including 398 MALs.
362 members attended. Dallas, Fort Worth, Individual members and chapters donated $11,822.00 to the 9-11 Memorial Fund.
DFW/Mid-Cities and Richardson Chapters hosted the Convention.
Manhattan Chapter hosted the 2001 Seminar in New York City. 127 members attended.
TKC continues to support Wings Foundation.
Raised national dues to fifty dollars ($50.00). Revised By-Laws to include former Stewardesses/Flight Attendants of airlines acquired by or merged with American Airlines who are members of local affiliated chapters and Members at Large to be eligible for membership in TKC.
Members at Large may hold a national office.

Co-editors for the Kiwi Kaleidoscope.

 2004      26th National Convention held in Las Vegas, Treasure Island Resort.
1336 Members.  48 Chapters, including 278 MALS, 124 Flight Attendants.

New Convention two-day format.
337 members attended.  46 Chapter Delegates attended.
National Seminar cancelled, due to low expected attendance and financial burdens.
First Flight Attendant/Kiwi recruitment held at DFW Airport. Eight Flight Attendants recruited.  Over 30 prospective names added from two recruitments.

The “Party by the Bay” was organized for the San Diego area.
The AA Uniform collections were used for three shows and for two FA recruitments.

Board Advisor commitment reduced from three terms to one term.
TKC continues to support the WINGS Foundation.  New President of Wings Foundation, Cathy Crandall, DC Flight Attendant (Washington DC Kiwi).  A Wings/
Kiwi Club liaison was appointed.
American Airlines no longer provides travel for national board or a stipend.  TKC has become financially independent.

 2006      27th National Convention held in San Diego at Paradise Point
1,236 Members, 47 Chapters, including 232 MALS
Board Meetings were held  in Palatine, IL, Orlando, FL, Santa Ana, CA and San Diego, CA.
“Flamingo Fling” held in Orlando, FL in lieu of
seminar. Combined with national board meeting.

Revamped Kiwi Website to become integral part of The Kiwi Club. Forms and chapter newsletters listed in members only section.
The Kiwi Club no longer receives support of AA Liaison (Mary
Sullivan Raymond).
Retired title of “archivist”.
Established four Kiwi Kaleidoscope’s per year (8 per term).
Established donation of $20 to Wings upon death of a Kiwi.
Established Co-Historians - one, a Kiwi Club expert on American Airlines uniforms for The Kiwi Club.
Updated Convention Manual.

O’Hare and Carefree Chapter established, San Antonio disbanded.

Buffalo Chapter renamed Western New York.
Executive Board manuals and National By-Laws were  reformatted.
Established Polly Toll Goodman Award and announced at 27th National Convention.  Honored Mary Sullivan Raymond at Convention for her contributions to The Kiwi Club.
Continued to support Wings as our National Endeavor; total donations now $112,235.64

 2008       1,150 Members, 45 Chapters, including 159 MALS & 40 F/A's
28th National Convention held in Houston at the Marriott Woodlands.

Bay Cities/San Diego & Florida Suncoast chapters established.

Detroit, Long Island and Richardson chapters disbanded.

Held Board meetings in Daytona Beach, Columbus, Tulsa and Houston and invited local Kiwis to attend dinner gathering.
Donated The Memorial Award and the Millie Alford Membership Award to the Tulsa Air and Space Museum.
Donated the President’s Cup, Kiwi Award of Merit and the Kay Hansen Award to the American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum.
Established official Kiwi Club Wings Membership Pin
Attended A.A. Retiree meeting in DFW.
A.A. Credit Union assisted by copying & mailing
‘Call to Convention.’
