Kiwi Convention 2024
Savannah Sojourn
We are pleased to announce that after thorough research on various potential locations, Savannah has been chosen as the destination for our upcoming convention. Savannah is consistently ranked as one of the top cities to visit by leading travel publications due to its cleanliness, safety, ease of transportation, and unique offerings.
The convention will take place from April 23-25, 2024, and our selected hotel is The DeSoto. This boutique hotel is located at 15 E. Liberty in the heart of the Historic District and offers on-site dining and bar options, as well as easy access to a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants, and historical landmarks.
Caroline Ballachey Womack (a member of the Golden Gate and Music City chapters) is the Convention Chairperson, and her team of Kiwi members from across the country are already working hard to ensure that this event is not to be missed. Regular updates regarding the convention will be posted on this website and in the upcoming spring edition of the Kaleidoscope.

The Desoto Hotel
Hotel Location
Our hotel, The DeSoto, is wonderfully located in the Historic District, where you may stroll at your leisure enjoying the many historic homes, and squares, shops and restaurants. For those who prefer to ride rather than walk, just outside of our hotel is a DOT stop, the fare-free shuttle service with 18 stops in the Historic District and the Savannah Belles Ferry.
The Kiwi Club special convention hotel rate is, $229 per night, single or double occupancy. While the hotel does not offer any suites we're confident that you'll find the well-appointed rooms to be the perfect retreat. A reservation link and reservation phone number will be available in early May 2023, which we will be publishing as soon as it is available.

Forsyth Park: This beautiful 30-acre park is located just a few blocks south of the DeSoto Hotel and features a large fountain, walking paths, and plenty of green space for picnics or relaxation.

River Street: This historic cobblestone street is located a few blocks north of the DeSoto Hotel and features numerous shops, restaurants, and galleries along the Savannah River.

City Market: This four-block open-air market is located just a few blocks east of the DeSoto Hotel and features a variety of shops, restaurants, and art galleries.

Savannah Historic District: The DeSoto Hotel is located within the boundaries of Savannah's Historic District, which is home to numerous historic homes, churches, and other landmarks.

Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD): The DeSoto Hotel is located just a few blocks away from the main SCAD campus, which is home to numerous galleries, exhibitions, and events.

Savannah Weather in April
In Savannah, Georgia, the weather in April is generally mild and pleasant, with warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine. The temperature usually reaches the 70s and sometimes even the 80s, creating an almost perfect climate. The warm weather is accompanied by a refreshing coastal breeze, which makes the humidity levels low.
Unlike other places where spring showers bring May flowers, Savannah has little rain during this season, so there is no need to bring heavy rain gear. Instead, use the extra suitcase space for souvenirs!

Think casual, but polished. Savannah is a sophisticated southern city.

Comfortable shoes: You'll be sightseeing and shopping, so wear comfortable shoes that you can walk in for long periods of time. Flats, loafers, or low heels are all good options.

Lightweight layers: April in Savannah can be warm during the day, but it can also get cooler in the evenings. Wear lightweight layers such as a blazer or a cardigan that you can easily take off or put on as needed.

Sun protection: Savannah can get quite sunny, so be sure to bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun's rays.
Overall, aim for a polished look that is comfortable enough to wear all day.
