Wings Foundation

Wings Foundation provides financial grants to American Airlines flight attendants who are in critical need of financial assistance due to illness, injury, or disability; or who sustain damage to their primary residence by a natural disaster or catastrophic event.

As you can imagine, being a Kiwi is great fun. But we're serious too, serious about helping others.
The Kiwi Club has been involved in endeavors, both locally and nationally, for charities since beginning in 1952.

The Wings Foundation was organized to provide urgent and critical financial support to American Airlines flight attendants who find themselves in need due to illness or tragic circumstance.  In many cases, recipients of Wings assistance have used funds for such basic needs as food, housing, and medicine.

The Kiwi Club and Wings

In 1996, The Kiwi Club chose to support the Wings Foundation as its National Endeavor.
Over $24,000.00 was donated in the past year.  As of January 1, 2023,
$691.669 has been donated to Wings,

Because of the background of our membership, our relationship with Wings is a special one.

Through its involvement with Wings, The Kiwi Club is making a positive difference in the lives of many. We are proud to assist this organization. It is administered by American Airlines flight attendant volunteers, and virtually all proceeds are distributed to those in need - a remarkable achievement.

We are united in our efforts to support American Airlines Flight Attendants through our involvement with the Wings Foundation.

Amy’s story began while looking for her first job as a nurse right out of college in 1981 and was commissioned into the Air Force's Nurse Corp. She joined mainly out of curiosity. "I have to be a nurse somewhere," she explained. "Why not serve in this environment and see what it's about?"

Barclays Donates $100,000 to Wings!

On May 1, 2021, Barclays concluded the AAdvantage® Cash “Spread Your Wings” promotion and announced a $100,000 donation to the Wings Foundation, supporting its crucial work to provide financial assistance to our flight attendants.

“We send our deepest thanks to the flight attendants whose participation in the promotion resulted in this amazing donation,” said then acting Wings Foundation President Kazumi Chapa. “I am continually inspired and humbled by the dedication and generosity of American Airlines flight attendants who answer the call to give again and again.”

This flight attendant founded and managed charity assists American Airlines flight attendants in financial distress due to critical illness, injury, disability, or natural disaster. Last year, Wings Foundation provided nearly $400,000 in grants to 80 American Airlines flight attendants.

“Barclays’ faithful financial contributions over the past five years have demonstrated its deep commitment to Wings Foundation’s work. We are proud to work alongside them to serve our fellow flight attendants,” Chapa said.
